February is a fun month; it’s still got a nice chill to the air, and Valentine’s Day is right in the middle of the month. Everyone celebrates love a different way, even if you go to one of those fun “Luv Sux” parties, you’re celebrating in your own way.
I’d like to share my love for cupcakes with everyone this month! February is already shaping up to be a fun one for us at Cupping Cakes. We have some great events in Carrollwood and Seminole Heights, and beyond. This is also the first month of our “Charity Cupcake” – where proceeds from the sale of our special flavor of the month is donated directly to a charity, and this month is The Spring.
To go along with the Charity Cupcake flavor of the month, which is our delicious chocolate cake, topped with a yummy vanilla purple-tinted buttercream, topped with an icing sunflower, we will have a few “Valentine’s Day” themed flavors.
Conversation Starter: Red Velvet cake, topped with cream cheese buttercream and a few conversation heart candies.
Va-Va-Vanilla: Vanilla cake topped with a vanilla buttercream and themed sprinkles.
Give Me A Kiss: Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Kiss inside the cake, chocolate buttercream and chocolate chip topper.
Wine & Dine: Brown sugar cake, filled with raspberry merlot jam topped with raspberry merlot swiss meringue buttercream.

Here at Cupping Cakes, we like to make people happy through our little creations. We try and donate things where we can, and enjoy the great city we live in.
In that effort, we have created a new Monthly Special: the Charity Cupcake. Each month we will create a special flavor that will be available at all of our market events, and available to all specialty orders. Every time someone purchases this specific flavor cupcake, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local charity. Every month, we will work with a different charity, to spread awareness and help out where we can.
This great new Charity Cupcake special will start this February, and for our first local charity, Cupping Cakes has chosen: The Spring!
For the entire month of February, Cupping Cakes will be donating proceeds from the sale of the specialty The Spring cupcake: Chocolate cake topped with delicious (and purple) vanilla buttercream. During any of our events, or orders, if you purchase our charity cupcake, The Spring will receive a donation!
The Spring’s mission is to prevent domestic violence, protect victims and promote change in lives, families, and communities.

We’ve been such busy bees in the kitchen. New flavors, new type of events, busy event schedule, pfew!

New flavors we’ve been premiering and experimenting on include the Holy Cannoli, The Drunk Bride, Mango Tango and Chocolate Merlot.

One thing that ladies love? other than cupcakes? Babies. So that makes cupcakes at a baby shower the best combination ever, right?
We had the privilege and pleasure of making the cupcakes and cake for a dear long time friend’s baby shower. What a fun time!
We started out with the baby shower theme colors: pink and greens. Then we added in the new mom’s favorite flavors. So we whipped up a vanilla cake with raspberry filling with raspberry frosting for the pink, then a vanilla cake with key lime curd filling and a key lime buttercream frosting.
We then made a small cake with rosette style and buttercream roses on top. Filled it with some raspberry filling – and we have a delicious treat for the mom!
We are busy bees in the kitchen this season! Brewing up some new delicious flavors, such as pumpkin spice latte and lime pomegranate. How does homemade caramel sauce sound?
Our next event will be the Working Women of Tampa Bay Fall Food Festival on September 27th, 2012.

Cherry Dr. Pepper Cupcakes: chocolate Dr. Pepper cake, and a swirl of two frostings – Cherry Dr. Pepper and fresh Cherry frosting!
Pink Lemonade: fluffy lemon cake with a bi-berry filling and a lemon/cherry frosting!
Another great Sunday at the SweetWater Organic Market! The slight wind was nice, the sun was out and we tried out the new set-up. We are now not under a big heavy tent, but a table and umbrella! We can use a more gas-efficient car, and much easier for set-up time.
We had a few new flavors this week, the Irish Car Bomb cupcake, and a pile of Cookie Dough Swirl Marshmallows! I *tried* to not eat any of either one, so I’d have a few to sell. The Irish cupcakes were a HUGE hit, and sold out! The marshmallows peaked some interest, so I will have those for a few future markets. I’m working on maybe an organic and/or vegan marshmallow, so keep your eye out!
We also offered up some kid-friendly flavors, the Venice Vanilla and the Carrollwood Chocolate. Both delicious and popular – kids can’t deny sprinkles : )
We will be taking this weekend off, but will return the weekend of March 31 / April 1st. Any ideas for April Fool’s Day flavors?
This weekend you will find me at the SweetWater Sunday Market – hopefully in a new spot! We’re thinning down our set-up, and going to the regular table and cute umbrella!
We will have our double chocolate, double vanilla and a new special flavor…the Irish Car Bomb Cupcake. Warning: they will contain Guiness, Whiskey and Bailey’s!
Sweetwater Sundays are open to the public on Sundays from noon to 4pm during our harvest season (November to May).
Leashed dogs welcomed. Come check out the farm, listen to great music, have a picnic lunch, shop for local produce and environmentally-friendly products, meet like-minded individuals, and enjoy our orchard and gardens. Bring your friends and family! It’s a great way to support local businesses, local/organic agriculture, and our educational and community programs.
